The tall case in typical Gustavian form with hand painted finish and carvings and patina. A carved fretwork gallery with ornate crown moulding above the clock case of the provincial Empire period of neoclassical design.
The hand painted case with top mounted convex glass door and two glass side windows.
The main body with a solid fielded panel door to front for pendulum and weight access with traditional steel key on spring lock. The Gustavian carved mouldings to the case in the provincial manner complete with pegged joints.
A shaped neoclassical wreath and swags carved to the front of the base of the clock and on pyramidic shaped pedestal.
This clock demonstrates the sharing and inspiration of styles between the Scandinavian kingdoms or Norway, Denmark and Sweden in the 18th century and 19th century.
